Here is an experience I would like to share with our community. This year in June, due to damage to my heart about which I had been previously unaware, I was admitted to the emergency room at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Cortez.

When I arrived there, scared and vulnerable, I was met by a staff of nurses who quickly made me comfortable as they hooked me up to an IV and began tests that showed the need for a more thorough C.T. Scan. This then required admission to the hospital for an overnight stay and an early morning scan. Shortly thereafter, the doctor on call came to my bedside and gently let me know that I would need heart surgery.

Now I’m back in Cortez following successful open heart surgery and am receiving followup care. It’s time to take this opportunity to thank the staff at Southwest Memorial Hospital for helping me back to health.
