The Cortez Police Department is looking for a suspect in a car theft Friday morning at Keesee Motor Co.
The man allegedly broke into a building at 111 S. Broadway about 4:55 a.m. and stole the keys to a 2015 white Ford Escape, said police Lt. Andy Brock. He used the key remote to identify the car in the parking lot and drove off, Brock said.
A security camera caught the suspect in action, and police have requested the public’s help with identifying the man. He wore khaki pants and a white T-shirt and had a long ponytail.
Three vehicles were reported stolen from the same lot June 7, Brock said. They were later found abandoned nearby and were undamaged. The vehicles stolen were a 2017 Ford F350 pickup, a 2018 Toyota 4Runner and a 2019 Ford Edge.
No arrests have been made, Brock said, and the investigation is still open.
