Osprey has donated 20 new backpacks for CASA to distribute to local children who are living in foster care. Bags of Love, of Montrose, donated the goodies tucked inside each of the packs.

CASA of the Four Corners, a local nonprofit dedicated to bettering the lives of children who have been the victims of abuse and neglect, has received a donation of backpacks from local Cortez company, Osprey.

In addition to a monetary donation from its recent local sales event, Osprey has donated 20 new backpacks of various colors and sizes for CASA volunteers to distribute to local children who are living in foster care. A Montrose-area group, Bags of Love, donated the goodies tucked inside each of the backpacks, including a handmade quilt and age-appropriate toys.

CASA volunteers (Court Appointed Special Advocates) advocate for children in Montezuma and Dolores counties who find themselves in the dependency and neglect system through no fault of their own. Volunteers visit children in their foster homes and advocate for them in court hearings. These bags will make a special gift for children who have very little to call their own. Barbara Casey, regional director for CASA of the Four Corners, said, “Given the detrimental impact child abuse and neglect has on our community, CASA profoundly appreciates the contributions made by Osprey and Bags of Love to bring a bit of comfort to children experiencing such significant trauma”.
