Elected Montezuma County officials take oath of office today

Montezuma County officials elected in November will be sworn into office today at 9 a.m. by 22nd Judicial Judge Doug Walker.

The newly elected officials are Montezuma County Commissioners Kent Lindsay and Joel “Joe” Stevenson, and 22nd Judicial District Attorney Matt Margeson.

The ceremony will be aired online and can be viewed on the Montezuma County YouTube channel or on Webex.

Lindsay will represent the District 2 area of Cortez; and Stevenson, the District 3 area of Mancos.

Margeson has been the assistant DA and will replace former DA Will Furse, whose has reached his term limit. Furse has been hired to continue working as a prosecutor for the DA’s office.

The Montezuma County Board of County Commissioners will host a meet and greet for the newly sworn in commissioners today from noon to 2 p.m. The event will be hosted in the Board of County Commissioner Hearing Room, 109 West Main St., Cortez.
