It's that time of year again. The time when you can buy fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, a beautiful bouquet of flowers or sink your teeth into a home-baked goody. Don't miss the Dolores Farmers Market every Wednesday this summer from 4 to 7 p.m. But this year, you will find the market in a new place. Instead of setting up around Town Hall, vendors are setting up at Joe Rowell Park. Joe Rowell offers more shade, more parking and bathrooms, town officials say. So join support our local hard-working farmers in their new location, Wednesdays at Joe Rowell Park.

Library hosts Reading Dog

The Dolores Public Library has been full of excitement with the start of the Summer Reading Program. And there is more to come. Beginning next Monday, June 16, Buddy the Reading Dog, will be at the library from 3 to 5 p.m. for 15-minute appointments. Your child can read to Buddy! This is great for those children who struggle with reading aloud. Buddy has been trained just for this purpose. Parents are encouraged to sign up for this program at the library and must sign a permission form. Call the library at 882-4127.

Also at the library, a Lego Club is expected to start Friday, June 14. This is a great opportunity for kids and kids at heart who love Legos to get together and build. The Lego Club is expected to be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Fridays.

River quiets down

The Dolores River seems to have met its peak and has begun to taper down. As of Wednesday, the river was measured in Dolores at about 800 cfs. It was a good runoff year for the river, which seemed to meet its peak at 2,280 cfs, according to the USGS.

Students head to D.C.

A group of Dolores Middle School Students and some Dolores High School students left for Washington, D.C., this week. It is an educational trip they worked hard all year to raise money for. Teacher chaperones Pamela Pacheco and Clay Tallmadge joined the crew. Let's hope they have tons of fun, make lots of memories and learn a lot.
