Work on vacant lots will continue
Trustees directed the town administrator to work with property owners to improve vacant lots along Grand Avenue according to the plan written by students from CU Denver.
The students held meetings to discuss ideas for the lots with the community and turned in their plan. Town Administrator Andrea Phillips presented it to the board June 11, and the board voted to accept it.
The plan outlines plans to turn three lots into public spaces by adding seating, shade sails and planters that could be moved if the property is sold.
The town worked with the property owners of the lot across from Absolute Bakery to make it into a pocket park. Lots planned for public spaces include the area behind the mural and the lot next to the Mancos Times building.
