About 50 members of Survivors MC, Sons of Silence MC, Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, American Iron MC, and Harley Owners Group joined the Hardly Angels, the motorcycle group that Brianna Lynn Schmittel belonged to, on a ride from Santa Rita Park to a memorial for Schmittel in Mancos on Friday afternoon. Schmittel died Wednesday, June 18, 2014, from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident west of Hesperus. She was 22. "The community comes together well when we have a fallen biker," said Kathy Thayer, a member of Hardly Angels and one of the organizers of the ride. For information on donations to Schmittel's family, call Thayer at 799-4365.
