The Pony Expresso coffee shop received the TripAdvisor certificate of excellence in June. The award is given to businesses that consistently receive five-star reviews on the national travel site over the course of a year.
The travel site allows anyone to post ratings and reviews based on a company's product and customer service.
Mark Looper and his wife, Teresa, opened the shop a year and half ago after moving from Antonito. In general, it is recommended coffee shops open in a town of 30,000 or more, he said.
"We're succeeding where we're not supposed to," he said.
He attributes the success, in part, to faithful locals and a good reputation among skiers and campers.
