Bayfield retailer, college sports team report COVID-19 outbreaks

Just two new COVID-19 outbreaks were reported this week in La Plata County, one at a local retailer and another among a college sports team.

Every week, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment releases an updated list of outbreaks across the state. An outbreak is defined as two or more cases, transmitted within a given location, in a 14-day time period.

This week, new outbreaks include:

Fort Lewis College women’s basketball team, where an outbreak was confirmed Friday after one staff member and four players tested positive.Lewis True Value Mercantile in Bayfield, where an outbreak was confirmed Tuesday after three staff members tested positive.Previously reported, but still active outbreaks include: Bayfield High School, Community Connections Host Home, Durango High School, Lil’tykes Playschool, Miller Middle School, Miller Shared School, Needham Elementary School, Park Elementary School and Walmart.
