Hunter education class will be offered in Mancos
A hunter education class will be offered at the Mancos Community Center, Aug. 16-17 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Hunter education is required for anyone born after Jan. 1, 1949, who wishes to hunt or fish in Colorado. The class is open to individuals 10 and older, and the cost is $10 per person.

Mobile town hall listening sessions scheduled
The town board has three mobile meetings planned for the coming weeks.
The board looks to hear from citizens about budget priorities, infrastructure needs and other concerns. Two board members are scheduled for each meeting.
The next meeting is Aug. 7, noon to 2 p.m. at the library. Other meetings are Aug. 13, 7 to 9 a.m. at Absolute Bakery and Care and Aug. 19, 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mancos Opera House.
Mancos Town Gallery issues call for artists
Art takes flight, an open exhibit at the Mancos Town Gallery is looking for artists to participate.
All media will be accepted on Aug. 29 and 30 with the show being hung on Aug. 31. The show opens Sept. 1 with a reception Sept. 5 from 5 to 7 p.m.
The Mancos Town Gallery is at 103 E. Bauer Avenue in Mancos.

Mesa Verde National Park lifts fire restrictions
Mesa Verde National Park has lifted fire restrictions which have been in effect since July 22, 2014.
Superintendent Cliff Spencer said recent rain has limited fire danger.
Open fires or charcoal fires are no longer prohibited in Morefield Campground, Chapin Mesa Picnic Area or park residences.
"If the fire danger increases later in the season, restrictions may once again be implemented," stated Chief Ranger Farias.
