M-CHS will be hosting a presentation from Rachel’s Challenge on Monday, Nov. 3, at 6 p.m. in the Main Gym at the Cortez High School.

Rachel Joy Scott’s life was cut short during the shooting at Columbine High School, but her inspiring story lives on. This presentation is a powerful reminder of the little things we can do every day to make our world a better place.

The day before the presentation will be filled with trainings and assemblies at Cortez middle and high schools.

First, all the students will attend assemblies, and students are expected to sign a pledge to stop bullying.

After the assembly, a selected group of about 100 students – 50 from the middle school and 50 from the high school – will get training in stopping bullying. Twenty teachers also will get training.

The theme of the presentations is “Start a Chain Reaction”.

If you have questions, call Debra Ramsey at 970-565-3992 or visit RachelsChallenge.org.

The trainings are through Rachel’s Challenge, a organization started after Rachel Joy Scott’s life was cut short during the Columbine High School shooting on April 20, 1999. Her example of kindness and compassion was not defeated that day. Hear the inspiring story of one girl’s dream being fulfilled over a decade after her death.

Recommended audience: Parents and adults for the 6 p.m. presentation.

Co-sponsored by: The 21st Century Community Learning Grant and Federal Guidance Grant.
