Thursday, Oct. 30
12:13 a.m. An officer responded to the intersection of Ash and First Street for a male reportedly involved in an assault. Once the man was located, the officer observed blood on his lips and right ear, and the smell of alcohol. The victim said he was beat up by an unknown male. The unknown male was described as 6 feet tall and 200 pounds. The victim was at a bar when the unknown male started “talking crap” toward him, so he left the bar. After entering the bar a second time to check on a woman’s welfare, the victim was followed by the unknown male. The unknown male apparently punched the victim near the Calkins building on Ash Street. The man, who wasn’t wearing shoes when the officer contacted him, said the punch had knocked him out of his shoes. There were no witnesses that could identify the unknown male.
5:00 p.m. An officer responded to a local hotel for a report of a male subject who was locked out of his room by his girlfriend. Dispatch informed the officer that both parties involved in the hotel situation had warrants. When the girlfriend was contacted, the officer was informed that her boyfriend was texting other girls in front of her, and she asked him to stop. She explained that they had recently gotten engaged and this offended her. She said she locked him out after he continued to text girls. The officer asked if the boyfriend could come in and collect his belongings and the woman said yes. A double check through dispatch proved that the woman had a warrant out of Farmington Police Department for failure to appear. She was handcuffed and taken to jail.
Friday, Oct. 31
9:25 p.m. A Report every Drunk Driver report was aired on a white Ford F-150 with Arizona plates. An officer observed the vehicle parked on the sidewalk near East Third Street with lights on. The officer approached the driver and smelled alcohol inside the vehicle. The officer also observed four children inside, including an infant in a baby carrier. The woman told the officer that she was out trick-or-treating and “trying to have a good time.” When the officer asked the woman to exit the vehicle, she stated, “I just want to take my babies home.” The woman refused to do roadside testing and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The children were taken to their father. The woman was issued summons for failure to properly use a rear-facing child restraint system, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, driving while under the influence, reckless driving and child abuse-no injury.
Saturday, Nov. 1
12:51 a.m. An accident occurred at Ash and Main streets. A single vehicle had collided with a traffic light pole. When the driver was asked what happened, she told the officer that she was leaving a parking lot and her car “would not steer or something.” Officers noticed she had poor balance, her eyes were watery and she smelled of alcohol. After admitting to drinking “a little” and failing roadside maneuver tests, the driver was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.
4:39 a.m. An officer was requested to respond to a home in the 1500 block of Navajo Street after a disturbance. The reported party stated his wife hit him in the face several times. When asked to explain herself, the woman said her “soon-to-be ex-husband” took her phone and wouldn’t give it back. The pair were reportedly at a Halloween party at a local Mexican restaurant when they both started arguing because the woman was flirting with another male. The woman reportedly punched the male when they continued to argue at home and then ripped off his T-shirt. She was arrested for suspicion of domestic violence.
4:01 p.m. An officer observed a vehicle near the 600 block of South Cedar with expired stickers. When the woman was contacted about the expired tags and asked for her license, registration and proof of insurance, she said she has never had a license and had been cited for that about three weeks ago. She also advised that she may have a warrant because she was in divorce court when she was supposed to be in court for the citation she had received. She was arrested for the warrant and driving under restraint.
Sunday, Nov. 2
2:15 p.m. Officers arrived at the Cortez Wal-Mart following a “Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately” report. When officers arrived, they were approached by an employee who told them that the suspects were selling goods inside the store. When an officer approached the suspects and advised they were not allowed to sell items in the store anymore, a check through dispatch showed one of the males had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The officer took that male into custody without incident. The other male was advised that he was not fit to drive. The male promised the officer that he would not drive and just needed to get inside the truck to call someone. The officer left and parked a short distance away to observe the male in the truck. After less than five minutes, the officer saw the vehicle leaving the parking space. After being pulled over by the officer at the 200 block of South Sligo and failing roadside maneuvers, the male was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.
