8:01 a.m. Officers responded to a gas station in the 2300 block of E. Main Street when they were advised that a detective was attempting to arrest a man who had multiple active warrants. The man attempted to flee from the detective. The detective reportedly pulled his weapon and asked other officers to respond. When officers arrived on scene, they were able to arrest the man, who was transported to the jail.

6:28 p.m. A man was arrested at the 100 block of South Market Street for violating a restraining order. The main, after being arrested said, “I was only there to take a shower and I was about to leave.” He also said, “I would never hit my wife. You have no heart, I love her.”

Saturday, Nov. 22

12:28 a.m. An officer was driving by a business in the 100 block of East Main Street when he observed a man urinating on the building. When the officer asked the man what he was doing he stated, “I’m pissing on this tree.” When the officer corrected him and said he was actually urinating on a building, the man said “Yeah, because I’m a man.” The man smelled of alcoholic beverages. The officer arrested the man for disturbing the peace. He later blew such a high level on a alcohol breath test, that he had to be medically cleared before he could be placed in jail.

1:16 p.m. An officer was driving by a super market in the 500 block of East Main Street when he noticed a woman sitting in a car acting strange. She looked at the officer, quickly looked away and then laid down in the back seat. The officer turned around to speak to the woman, and she began fumbling with her sunglasses on her head. It looked like she couldn’t decide to put them on, take them off or throw them to the side. When he talked to the woman and asked if she was OK, she identified herself as someone from Louisiana. Dispatch advised there was no such person. The officer later learned the true identity of the woman and learned she had a warrant. She was arrested. When the officer asked why she provided a false name she said she thought the officer recognized her. The officer explained to her that he stopped to talk to her because of her actions, not because he recognized her. She was not cited for lying to the officer.

10:16 p.m. An officer responded to a report of a fight in progress involving a knife at an apartment complex in the 600 block of East Second Street. When the officer responded, he saw several people who all pointed to a male who was running off. The officer pulled his gun and ordered the male to the ground. The officer yelled at the male several times and at one point the male took a step toward the officer. The officer told the man not to take another step and to get on the ground. The male did finally get on the ground and with the help of another officer, the male was handcuffed. The man kept saying with slurred speech that he didn’t do anything wrong or have a knife. The man was placed inside a patrol car and transported to jail where he refused to take an alcohol breath test. Because of jail policy, the man had to be transported to the hospital for medical clearance, where he threatened to beat up the officer and yelled at hospital employees. The man was eventually medically cleared. A knife was found at the scene of the fight and one man received a cut on his face, but refused medical attention.
