He'll make his appearance at the Galloping Goose Historical Society on Dec. 13.
Events at the Dolores Town Hall start at 5 p.m. with hot chocolate and cookies at the Town Hall.
There will be a bonfire and music. And Santa always has a treat for good boys and girls.
Open house
Also Saturday night, Dec. 13, don't miss the open house at the Rio Grande Southern from 5 to 8 p.m. This is one of the first buildings in Dolores and the oldest running business in town. The building has been operated as a hotel since 1893.
I am told that current owner, Susi Sieber, has been baking up a storm for this event.
The Southern Hotel was started as a boarding house for railroad people. The coming of the Rio Grande Southern Railroad on January 1892, made the hotel a necessity, and within a few years, Dolores was one of the major stopping points between Rico and Durango.
Busy weekend
The Christmas Bazaar and the Holiday Arts and Crafts show at the Dolores River Brewery drew in big crowds on Saturday.
Ruby Gonzales, organizer of the bazaar, said it was probably biggest one she's seen. She estimated 200 to 250 people walked through the doors at the Dolores Community Center.
Gonzales said she wanted to thank the Dolores State Bank, the Ponderosa Restaurant and Mary Ann and Dewayne Findley for giving certificates for the vendors' drawing.
"It was amazing," she said. "I think everyone did really well."
One ugly sweater
The Ginger Jar held an open house on Saturday and an ugly sweater contest.
Sandy Lauzon said eight people entered the contest this year, up from just two people last year. And boy, did they find one ugly sweater.
The winner of the contest was Jean Koenig.
"Not only was her sweater ugly, but she had a vest with gold ornaments and then she attached two packages of crackers, in case she got hungry," Lauzon joked.
Get up those lights
I am told that judges will be out in full force Dec. 18 trying to find the best light display for the annual light contest.
Colette Heeney reportedly outdid herself this year. The tree, which is near the Naked Moose Restaurant, has always been beautiful, but this year, Heeney added more lights.
"She outdid herself this year," Sandy Lauzon said.
She had to put the ladder in the bed of the truck to get the lights on.
