With the high school basketball season now complete, the Mancos High School girls and boys track teams took nearly full rosters to the Piedra Vista Invitational in Farmington on March 14.
Boys finish eighth overall
On the boys side, the Bluejays benefited from three top 10 finishes in individual events and placed 8th overall. Farmington High School and Piedra Vista High School tied for 1st place at the meet.
Leading the way for the Bluejays were junior Andrew Plunkett, who placed 4th in the long jump (18 feet, 3 inches) and 9th in the 200-meter dash (25.24), and junior Adrian Hernandez, who placed sixth in the 800-meter run (2:12.29).
Also cracking the top 20 for Mancos were senior Jayden Peacock, who placed 11th in the high jump (5 feet, 2 inches) and tied for 19th in the 200-meter dash (26.24), and senior Daniel Christensen, who tied for 19th in the 200-meter dash (26.24).
Girls tie for 11th overall
On the girls' side, Mancos failed to score any points and ended up tied for 11th place overall. Piedra Vista High School and Aztec High School tied for 1st place overall.
Sophomore Emma Most paced the Lady Jays for the second consecutive week with a 7th place finish in the 3200-meter run (13:45.37), and sophomore Kaylee Rose placed 9th in the 800-meter run (2:46.76).
Kristin Adams placed 13th in the 400-meter dash (1:12.48) and 22nd in the 200-meter dash (32.54), and Jessica Gutierrez placed 16th in the triple jump (25 feet, 7 inches), 31st in the 200-meter dash (34.01) and 41st in the 100-meter dash (15.73).
Next up for the Mancos boys' and girls' track teams will be the Center Viking Invitational, which will take place in Center on March 20.
