Stephanie Stuckman is not only a lifelong resident of Mancos, but an award winning, accomplished photographer. Growing up in the area, Stuckman developed a love for the diversity of nature. She recalls always trying to take photos of anything nature, even as a child.
She enjoys hunting and fishing. Never without her camera and lens, Stephanie states that it does get a little tricky when you carry that along with your fishing pole and tackle box, but has learned how to make it all work.
"I have found bobcats on my way to deliver groceries and golden eagles on my way to Walmart," Stuckman said.
In late 2010 she decided that she should find a place to display her photos locally. She became a member of the Artisans of Mancos cooperative at that time and remains there today. Her work is displayed on her website, www.wildvalleyphotos.com.
Stephanie has been featured multiple times in the Empire Electric Calendar and Colorado Outdoors Magazine. Her photos have been on the front covers and throughout the pages of these two publications. You will find her photo of a red fox on the front cover of the Colorado Country Life Magazine in the March 2015 edition.
Love for animals doesn't stop at the end of the photo lens. Stephanie is employed by the Mancos Valley Veterinary Hospital as a vet technician and office assistant. She also stays busy personally caring for animals in the area when their owners are away as a pet sitter.
