The economics of Mancos will be on everyone's minds Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the Mancos Valley Summit.
The event, sponsored by the Mancos Valley Resources, Mancos Valley Chamber of Commerce and the town of Mancos, will focus on bringing the community together to inspire collaboration, problem-solving and action around sustainable economic and community development.
Anyone concerned about the future of Mancos is invited to attend, including businesses, community leaders, nonprofit organizations, realtors, bankers and the general public.
From 9 to 9:30 a.m., nonprofit organizations will have tables set up with information during the "Coffee and Table Talks" session of the summit.
The summit will be facilitated by Tami Graham.
Between 10 and 11 a.m., there will be presentations on the economic trends in Mancos, economic development in Mancos, real estate trends in Mancos, area tourism, local agriculture trends and an update on the Mancos Creative District.
Local businesses will have a discussion from 11 a.m. to noon about economics during a local business panel discussion.
Lunch will be provided. Between 12:15 and 1:30 p.m. there will be a problem-solving breakout sessions.
Some of the problems the summit will work on include: How to attract employers, aales tax leakage, how to encourage people to shop locally and how to capture the spending power of the thousand of commuters and visitors who travel through Mancos.
