There are golfers, there are avid golfers, and then there’s Fred Mang.
On Wednesday, Mang, who is 91 and legally blind, made a hole-in-one on a 120-yard hole.
He knows the hole well because Mang owns the home on U.S. Highway 550 in Hermosa that features a five-hole golf course as the front yard. This is the second hole-in-one Mang has shot on his home course on the same hole, his wife, Midge, said.
“He stands up by the porch and tees off about six balls, then he goes down to check where they landed,” she said. “(Wednesday) he had four in birdie range and one in the hole.”
When he’s not playing golf, Mang mows the greens every day and spends significant time grooming his course.
