Five Bass Masters tournaments are scheduled for the year. The qualifying points and pound format determine the angler of the year. The same requirements will be followed by co-anglers, who are given the chance to fish with a club boater by going into the draw, prior to the take off.

The third tournament of the year was on June 20, at McPhee Lake.

The first two tournaments where taken by Angler of 2014, Wade Jordan, who tied the season with Mike Carver.

Sandra Rogers weighed in at 7.95 pounds for first place, and Gary Smouse had 7.82 for second. Bud Hall, of Farmington, took third with a weigh-in of 6.93 pounds.

The big fish of the tournament weighed 2.6 pounds and was caught by Dennis Bugg.

Co-angler of 2014 Deagan Kennedy caught everyone by surprise when she revealed her walleye. Though her 9.63-pound walleye will be talked about for a long time, only small and large mouth bass counted in the tournament

Anyone who wishes to learn about the club may contact tournament director Dennis Bugg at 1-505-787-1496.

The next tournament is July 18 at McPhee. The club meets every third Wednesday at the American Legion building in Cortez.
