Baseball roundup: Cortez Majors beat Durango; Juniors lose

Starting off the tournament were the Minors, who won against Durango 13-2 on Monday, and Bayfield on Tuesday, 12-0. Thursday, they beat Bayfield again 13-3 and became the District 4 Champions. They qualify for state in Grand Junction this weekend. They have set up a GoFundMe for travel costs.

The Majors

The Majors also brought home gold. A rain delay pushed their first game in Durango to Wednesday, where they beat Durango 15-13. On Thursday, they lost to Durango 5-3, bringing the tournament to a tie. They fought back from losing with only two runs, scoring nine more to win 11-9 in the final game and also qualify for the state competition this weekend, which they will be hosting in Durango on July 18th.

The Juniors

The Juniors lost their first game to Durango on Friday 20-7. They lost their final game today, 22-4, making them second place. They were the only two teams in Juniors.

The Micros

The Micros won their first game against Durango on Friday 13-9. They played a close game with Moab and lost 7-8.

All Star players were selected from various teams by the head coach of each team.
