I’m not physically able to do it this year, but the need still exists. Wealthier school districts provide many of the basic items that local families are asked to buy for their kids.
Check the school supply lists at Walmart to see the number of items needed and you realize that many families in our community can’t afford to buy them.
Teachers are the ones who end up spending large amounts of their low salaries to provide basic tools like pencils, paper, pink erasers, reams of copy paper for work sheets, dry erase markers, spiral notebooks, Kleenex, etc., for their students. You can help by calling a school after Aug. 18 to see what’s needed, by purchasing some items and taking them to a school near you after August 18, or by asking teachers you know how you can help them.
