Library, city sponsor reading program

The Cortez Public Library and the City of Cortez is facilitating and sponsoring a volunteer reading program. The library provide literacy mentors who help elementary students with their reading skills once a week.

‘Still Learning’ is theme of Storytime

“Still Learning” is the September theme of the Raising Readers Storytime at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St., Cortez.

The preschool Storytime program is every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Older children are welcome to join in for a craft at 11:15 a.m.

The library offers a Storytime at the Cortez Farmers Market on Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. and the First Tuesday Market on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 5:30 p.m., weather permitting. They follow the same theme as the Thursday Storytime.

LOL Stories: Sept. 10 and Sept. 12

Tickle Me Stories: Sept. 17 and Sept. 19

Author Jane Yolen: Sept. 24 and Sept. 26

Raising Readers Storytime offers songs, stories, crafts and silliness and uses the Early Childhood Literacy Initiative program. For more information, contact the library at 970-565-8117.
