Auto Club Demands Better Motor Law Enforcement
Colorado now has its statutes motor vehicle laws which are on a par with the best in the country. The uniform provisions recommended nationally are the basis of these new laws. The time has come to put some of these provisions into effect, says Rocky Mountain motorists, local blub of the American Automobile association, in calling upon public officials to keep and make use of records on all serious accidents.
Bean Crop Reported 45 Per Cent Normal Sept. 1
According to a government crop report, dated September 1, the condition of dry beans crops in the U. S. declined from 68 per cent of normal on August 1, to 45 per cent of normal on September 1. Dry weather reduced the yield and cause a heavy drop of blossoms.
Ranch Sold
The Jesse Robinson ranch, on the upper Dolores, has been recently sold to Frank Puett, well known Montezuma County stockman. Included in the transaction were twenty head of cattle, according to information furnished by H. V. Pyle.

Joe Louis had little trouble in disposing of Max Baer, Hollywood gigolo and self esteemed former heavyweight champion, at Yankee stadium in New York Tuesday night.
Arizona Beans Start at 4c
The first pinto beans marketed this year in the Flagstaff, Arizona area were sold by Claude Smith for $4 a bad. The consignment consisted of 250 bags each weighting 100 lbs, says an item in the Holbrock, Tribune News.
This is a cent higher than the initial price paid local growers, the difference being probably due to transportation charges.
Peaches Moving
While the peach crop in the Dolores section is somewhat light this fall, the luscious fruit is moving and with usual demand. Summit Ridge and Lebanon peaches are of particularly fine flavor and sell well even after the other crops have been harvested.
Arizona Trip is One Worth Taking
Martin Rush and the Star editor returned Sunday from a three day trip down into the northeast section of Arizona, after having experienced all the thrills that are to be obtained from viewing the principal scenic wonders of that great state.
Black Hill Beetle Endangers Forest
Denver. - Black Hill bark beetles are threatening the national forests of the Rocky mountain region. Already thousands of acres of prime timber have been destroyed. Forest rangers and 500 CCC workers are fighting the pest.
Arriola Items
The H.O.A's met Thursday of last week with Mrs. Bernice Burke. The ladies spent the afternoon piecing quilt blocks. At the end of the afternoon the hostess served delicious refreshments. Several quilt blocks were finished. They meet Thursday October 3 with Mrs. Darwin Goodall.
The Lay and North threshing machine was doing it's stuff in our community the first of the week. Those getting work done were: Estal Howard, C. L. Melvin, V. O. Hodges and Paul Ramer.
Mrs. Barnett is helping with the canning at the Harry Rogers home the past week.
