Bond lowered, then raised in robbery case

In custody, Nicole Hill, 24, address unknown, had an arraignment hearing set for Nov. 3.

Charged with armed robbery, menacing, theft and child abuse stemming from an incident that occurred on July 23, Hill’s initial $25,000 bond was reduced to $1,500 in September. After failing to comply with bond conditions, the mother of a 6-month-old infant recently had her bond increased to $3,000.

Drug suspect gets reprieve

Out of custody under a $20,000 bond, Ashley Cruzan, 19, of Cortez, had a bench warrant issued for her arrest after she failed to appear for a plea hearing.

Arriving 10 minutes late, Cruzan was admonished for disrespecting the criminal justice process. The bench warrant was vacated.

Cruzan is charged with drug possession and drug distribution charges stemming from separate incidents that occurred on April 30, 2014, and Aug. 7, 2015.

Convicted forger gets prison

In custody for probation violation, Kenny Velasquez, 32, of Mancos was sentenced to one year in prison followed by two years of parole after failing drug court requirements.

Velasquez reportedly forged drug test results in October 2013 and was given a deferred judgment and sentence.

Woman pleads guilty to auto theft

In custody under a $5,000 bond, Christina Hurst, 29, of Cortez pleaded guilty to aggravated motor vehicle theft stemming from an incident on May 24.

Set for sentencing on Nov. 19, the plea deal includes a deferred judgment and sentence.

Children used in shoplifting scheme

Out of custody under a $500 bond, Joanne June, 54, of Montezuma Creek, Utah, pleaded guilty to felony attempted contributing to delinquency of a minor.

Set for sentencing on Nov. 19, the plea deal includes a deferred judgment and sentence.

The charges stem from a shoplifting incident involving two children that reportedly occurred at Wal-Mart on June 11.

Drug trial set for February

Out of custody under a $2,000 bond, Rebecca Greer, 33, of Cortez, pleaded not guilty to all charges in separate cases. The trial, expected to last 2 days, was set for Feb. 22.

Greer is charged with drug possession and violating bond conditions stemming from an arrest on July 24. She’s also charged with numerous drug possession and distribution charges connected to an arrest on June 7.

Trial set for assault suspect

Out of custody under a $2,000 bond, Mark Westbrook, 47, of Cortez, pleaded not guilty. The trial, expected to last two days, was set for Feb. 22.

Westbrook is charged with assaulting an at-risk victim, harassment and disorderly conduct stemming from an incident that occurred on June 19.

Sex assault trial set for February

In custody under a $50,000 bond, Marty Trujillo, 37, of Round Rock, Ariz., pleaded not guilty. The trial, expected to last eight days, was set for Feb. 22.

Trujillo is charged with two counts of sex assault, assault and cruelty to animals from an incident that occurred on May 3.

Sentencing set for convicted burglar

In custody under a $5,000 bond, Baldimor Rubi, 53, of Cortez, will be sentenced later this month after pleading guilty to burglary.

Rubi was charged with burglary, drug possession, theft and trespass from an incident that occurred on May 25. The trailing charges were dismissed as part of a plea deal reached in July.
