The Dolores Bears volleyball team got back on track this weekend with two wins.

The Bears had lost six straight going into Friday’s game against Telluride, but they knocked off the Miners in four games.

Freshman Aryelle Wright led the team with 11 kills in the match and senior Larissa Umberger set up her teammates throughout, earning 22 assists.

The Lady Bears kept their momentum rolling into Saturday’s home contest with Ouray, and they brought out the brooms, sweeping the Trojans in three games (25-11, 25-9, 25-8).

Wright again led the team in kills with nine, and sophomore Cameron Elder showed her efficiency by recording five kills on just six attempts.

Limiting their errors proved to be key for the Bears, and in three games, sophomore Josie Majors had 16 digs and only one digging error.

Team captain Umberger again came through as the set-up-girl, recording 21 assists. She also dropped in eight aces in the three games.

The Bears get a confidence boost from the consecutive wins, and they’ll try to make it three-in-a-row in a rivalry game against Mancos on Tuesday.
