Deadline for Horatio Scholars is Oct. 23

The deadline for applying to become a Horatio Scholar is Oct. 25. Students must have a minimum of a 2.0 grade point average, be a senior on track to graduate, be a resident of Colorado, be involved in community-service activities, be committed to pursuing a bachelor’s degree at an accredited public or private institution in the U.S., and require financial assistance.

Fort Lewis rep headed to M-CHS

A representative from Fort Lewis College will be at Montezuma-Cortez High School at 11 a.m. on Oct. 28. To meet with the representative, sign up in the counseling office by Oct. 27.

Grand Canyon rep coming Nov. 9

Kyle Harriman from Grand Canyon University will be here on Nov. 9. If you are interested in speaking with him, please sign up in the counseling office by Nov. 8. He will also share opportunities for students to visit the GCU campus. (11-8)

Coast Guard recruiter coming Nov. 10

The U.S. Coast Guard Recruiter will be at M-CHS from 8:30-11:00 a.m. on Nov. 10.

If you would like to speak with him, please sign up in the counseling office by Nov. 9.

Scholarship contest deadline is Dec. 4

The 2016 Most Valuable Student scholarship contest is open to any high school senior who is a U.S. citizen. Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. The deadline is Dec. 4. For more information, go to www.elks.org/ENF/scholars/mvs.cfm.

Another scholarship, the Elks Legacy Award, is for children and grandchildren of Elks members. It must be completed online by noon Friday, Jan. 29. For more information, visit www.elks.org/enf/scholars/legacy.cfm.

GE-Reagan scholarship deadline is Jan. 7

Applications are now being accepted for the GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship for students that demonstrate leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship.
