Mancos, Cortez and Dolores cross country runners take off at Chicken Creek earlier this season. The teams will meet up again on Friday for the Class 2A Region 4 Championship.

The Mancos cross-country team finished off its regular season at the Eric Wolff Invitational in Monte Vista on Friday.

In order to rest and prepare for regionals, head coach Brady Archer didn’t race any varsity runners. But he still had a handful of boys competing.

They were led by Caleb Yoder, who finished in 41st place with a time of 19 minutes and 41 seconds. Not far behind was Teslin Stecher in 50th place (19:50).

Andrew Christensen (20:44) and Zane Wilson (21:05) finished 58th and 64th, and Alex Fleitz (23:43) and Luke Christensen (30:08) rounded out the Mancos runners in 81st and 91st.

“We had a number of runners we were not racing today as we prepare for the regional meet in Delta next Friday,” said Archer. “However, the boys that ran today had outstanding races. Almost every guy ran a personal best. It’s is nice to see some of the boys who finished up their seasons today run their best races. Some of these boys will also be on our roster for the regional meet.”

The Blue Jays will again meet up with Dolores and Montezuma-Cortez teams today for the 2A Region 4 Championship in Delta starting at 12:30 p.m.
