BLM meeting on master leasing plan is Nov. 19

The Bureau of Land Management’s Southwest Resource Advisory Council Oil and Gas Sub-Group will meet Thursday, Nov. 19, at the Dolores Public Lands Center (29211 Colorado 184) at 10 a.m.

The Southwest RAC Oil and Gas Sub-Group identifies key priorities for the Southwest RAC to recommend to the BLM. At this meeting, the sub-group will discuss the BLM’s proposed master leasing plan in western La Plata and eastern Montezuma counties.

The meeting is open to the public, and the public comment period is at 11 a.m. Individuals who want to make a statement during the public comment period should register with the BLM by sending an email to sborders@blm.gov by Wednesday, Nov. 18. Speakers should submit a written copy of their statement at the meeting for the administrative record. Depending on the number of speakers, the sub-group may limit the length of statements.

The Southwest RAC is one of three advisory councils to BLM Colorado. Composed of 15 members appointed by the Secretary of the Interior, individuals serving in each RAC represent diverse public land interests, ranging from environmental to local government to commercial activity. The Oil and Gas Sub-Group is comprised of three RAC members and was created to facilitate public information and engagement regarding oil and gas development in southwest Colorado.
