Pile burning planned in Dolores district

The San Juan National Forest Dolores Ranger District plans to burn slash piles in the Haycamp Mesa, Chicken Creek, Spring Creek, Turkey Knoll, Rock Springs, Upper Lost and McPhee Park areas, as weather allows, from now until the end of December.

Piles to be burned are the result of recent logging activity. Operations typically take place after snowfall for safety reasons. Firefighters will ignite and closely monitor pile-burning activities, which should not affect public access or use of these areas.

For more information, contact the Dolores District Office at 970-882-7296.
