The offices at Southwest Colorado Community College East Campus and West Campus will be closed Dec. 25 through Jan. 3, in observance of the holidays.

SCCC encourages all returning students and or others interested in classes, to register as soon as possible.

Offices reopen on Jan. 4. The Spring Semester starts Jan. 18 and the last day to register is Jan. 15, but enrollment advisers urge students not to wait until the last minute.

Besides having increased choices of open class sections, dates and times, registering now instead of later has other benefits for both continuing and new students. Early registration also helps students avoid the stress level of being part of the hectic, late enrollment rush.

Making an appointment with an adviser at either campus is encouraged, but walk-ins are also welcome.

Additional information about enrolling, advising and registering procedures is available by calling the West Campus, located between Mancos and Cortez, at (970) 564-6200 or the East Campus, in Durango, at (970) 247-2929 or at www.enrollsouthwest.org.

SCCC offers guaranteed academic transfer classes and associate’s degrees. In addition, the two-year college offers degrees and certificates in cosmetology, law enforcement, fire science, EMT, radiologic technology, MRI and CT, medical assistant, welding and automotive service technology. SCCC also offers programs to become a certified nursing assistant in just seven weeks. In three semesters, a student can become a medical assistant with a certificate or degree. SCCC also has a popular registered nursing program and a culinary certificate program.

SCCC is a division of Pueblo Community College, which was recently spotlighted by the Brookings Institute as one of the top four colleges in the country for “adding value” to a student’s college years. SCCC is a division of Pueblo Community College.
