Letter to the Editor

What happened to the TV Guide that was in the paper? And also the senior citizens news? We do think the paper is better now, but could still have more of our local news.

About Our Neighbors

The boy is 16 years old and has completed six years in club work. His leader is Mark Wilden. Doug was unlucky in the state contest but plans to give them a closer run next year.”

Mancos Valley Ass’n hears talk

Advertising, and what it means to Mancos, was the main topic of last Thursday’s Mancos Valley Association meeting at the Hamburger Haven. Foster Allenbaugh, editor of the Mancos Times-Tribune, discussed the cost of publishing the newspaper and a TV Guide.

Ellen Holston also spoke on the importance of advertising:

“We all use it,” she said, “business, to attract customers; individuals, to compare products and prices; and possibly most important of all, to obtain necessary services. Years ago, we wanted a bank, with the thought that if people cashed their checks, they would shop here. Then we wanted a doctor. Today, we have two of the best, plus a fine dentist. They didn’t just stumble on Mancos; they came because of advertising.”
