Blair Crimmins and the Hookers will play their 1920s-style Dixieland jazz at the Sunflower Theatre in Cortez on Friday, Jan. 15

The show starts at 7 p.m., and the cash bar opens at 6:15 p.m. Tickets are $12 online, $15 at the door and can be purchased at www.sunflowertheatre.org or by calling 970-516-1818.

Blair Crimmins began his current music career in Atlanta, with a determination to bring Ragtime and 1920s-style Dixieland jazz to new audiences. What he created was a sound that is at once modern while being deeply rooted in the past. Now four years, and 500 shows later, he has toured the eastern U.S., playing large venues and has opened for national acts such as Mumford & Sons and O.A.R. A multi-instrumentalist and music academic, Crimmins writes songs and arrangements for a classic New Orleans style horn section consisting of trumpet, clarinet and trombone. His debut release “The Musical Stylings Of” became a college radio sensation on WRAS Atlanta, making him the most requested band on the air.

“This man has taken me back to the first conceptions of rocking and rolling,” stated Rockfist Reviews. “A time when jazz crazy people of the ’30s swung into a big band room. I’m talking about early stuff like Count Basie, Etta James, and early Ray Charles; into later music such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, or Elton John. ”

The Sunflower Theatre is located at Main and Market streets in Cortez.

The Sunflower Theatre presents performing arts, cinematic, and educational programming.
