Celtic band to play at Distillery
The Mancos Valley Distillery presents the Celtic slang band Devil’s Dram, of Farmington, on Saturday.
Doors open at 5 p.m., and music starts at 7 p.m. Cover charge is $3.
A Devil’s Dram is a glass of whiskey taken from what soaks into the oak barrel during the distilling process. The dregs. The bottom. It’s also a testament to how any one barrel tastes.
Devil’s Dram’s tools are the electric guitar, bagpipe, flute, tin whistle and Irish drum. It adds saxophone and didgeridoo, all carefully mixed.
Farming workshop set for weekend
There’s a small-scale farming workshop in Mancos at the Medicine Horse Center this weekend.
On Saturday, the workshop will cover crop planning, farm layout and rotations. It will also cover soil health and irrigation management
Sunday, the speakers will cover weed and tillage management.

Botanist to lead Mesa Verde tour
Botanist Al Schneider leads a winter plant identification hike at Morefield Campground on Saturday, March 12, beginning at 9 a.m.
The hike is free, but advance signup is requested. The hike is recommended for individuals high school age to adult.
Participants will meet at the Morefield Village parking lot, and explore the hillsides around the Morefield Campground, learning how to identify plants in the winter, when their foliage is not present. Be prepared to be outdoors for 2-3 hours with layers of clothing, water, and snacks. There is a limit of 15 participants.
