When people first meet Dave Thibodeau, co-founder of Ska Brewing Co., they often assume he’s a fisherman and/or hunter, but that couldn’t be further from the truth, he said in a documentary about his eating habits.

“It’s just not my thing,” he said of hunting and fishing. “I have a hard time stepping on a bug. I’ll free any spider in my house before I’ll crush it. I realized I just can’t kill things.”

“The Veg Effect” features five stories about people who changed their eating habits for personal health and to better the world. The mini-doc was created by Morningstar Farms, a manufacturer of vegetarian products. Thibodeau is the subject of the fifth installment, a nine-minute profile titled “Brewing Change.”

Thibodeau, who has been vegetarian since 1987, is shown making his award-winning chili, helping a rancher load spent beer grain to be fed to cattle and mountain biking. He describes an inseparable connection between making conscious food decisions and environmentalism.

“You are what you eat, and by that I also mean drink,” he said.
