The 4 Corners Rollergirls put on a roller demonstration Saturday in order to spread the sport and recruit new team members and officials.

There weren’t just skateboards and bicycles on display at Parque de Vida on Saturday.

There were also roller skates.

Following the Skate 4 Life BMX and skateboard competition, the 4 Corners Rollergirls put on a roller derby demonstration in order to promote their team and recruit new members.

The Rollergirls team is comprised of 14 members from Cortez, Dolores and Mancos. They are currently inviting interested women over 18 to join the team, and they also need officials.

The team practices at the Cortez Recreation Center on Thursdays at 7 p.m. and on Sundays at 6 p.m., but because Cortez does not have a venue for competition, they are traveling for competitions to places like Moab and Durango.

For more information or to contact the team about player and official openings, visit the Rollergirls’ Facebook page and send them a message, at https://www.facebook.com/4CornersRollerGirls/
