The Cortez Public Library will be at the Cortez Farmers Market on Saturday, July. 23, as the nonprofit of the day, with books for sale and information about library programs.
The farmers market runs from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The library also will have also have a storytime at 9:30 a.m. with the book “Starfish on the Beach,” sponsored by Kids Need to Read, a nonprofit that works to create a culture of reading for children by providing books to underfunded schools, libraries and literacy programs across the U.S.
Kids Need to Read will also introduce the Grow Your Library program. The children in attendance will have the opportunity to submit a small book report or picture of themselves with a book, along with their full name and age to libraryseeds@kidsneedtoread.org and Kids Need to Read will donate a book in the child’s name to the library.
Kids Need to Read will also give each child in attendance their own book and a copy of Highlights for Children magazine.
The Cortez Farmers Market is at the corner of Elm and Main streets, in the courthouse parking lot.
