The Jon Stickley Trio will perform at the Dolores River Brewery at 8 p.m., July 20.

The Jon Stickley Trio will perform at the Dolores River Brewery on July 20 on the outdoor stage.

The Asheville, N.C., band has been making waves with the independent and fan-funded release of its second album, “Lost at Last,” in October.

The Trio combines Jon Stickley’s rapid-fire flatpicking guitar with the refined melodies of Lyndsay Pruett on violin set over the deep groove of Patrick Armitage on drums.

Acoustic Guitar Magazine describes their gypsy jazz, bluegrass style as an “exhilarating all-acoustic swirl.”

“Lost at Last” was recorded in the band’s hometown of Asheville at the iconic Echo Mountain Studios under the watchful eye of producer Dave King (The Bad Plus).

The band’s songs are described by New York Times writer Nate Chinen as “turbocharged original with a ska upbeat and a shredding melody.” And when they turn to bluegrass they “sound both professional and free.”

Premier Guitar Magazine described the song “Darth Radar” as “a rapid-fire take that moves from a serious ska beat to burning surf-style runs that would make Dick Dale proud.”

The show starts at 8 p.m.
