There was a new option available at the 2016 Women’s Tee Cup Invitational on Tuesday.

Organized by the Cortez Women’s Golf Association and hosted by Conquistador Golf Course, this year the all-female annual tournament featured two-person best ball play in addition to the usual individual stroke play.

It was the first year the team competition was featured, and course managers Micah and Annette Rudosky said they believe that the new option was the reason for the event’s growth.

Last year, when there was solely individual stroke play, there were 40 competitors.

On Tuesday, with the option to play stroke play, two-person best ball or both, there were 76 total competitors, including 49 from out of town.
