Montezuma County Historical Society is collecting recipes for a cookbook honoring the pioneer ancestors of Montezuma County and needs old and new recipes.
The cookbook is to be published around Thanksgiving.
Old recipes that belonged to grandparents are appreciated; for example, how to make lye soap. A brief history of the recipe owner also would be appreciated.
The deadline to receive recipes is Oct. 15. Send recipes to M-CHS, Box 218, Cortez, CO 81321. All proceeds go into the museum fund, said Sharon Veach Van Loenen, of the Montezuma County Historical Society.
