After nine years of working with ReMax Mesa Verde Realty, Bill Stanley opened his own real estate business this month.
Stanley has opened United Country Blue Sky Homes and Land at 1850 E. Main St. in Cortez.
“I have a vision for what a new, cutting-edge realty company can bring to the area,” he said.
The company will provide real estate services “across the board,” including residential, commercial and land sales, Stanley said. He plans to focus on listings in Montezuma and Dolores counties.
Stanley previously worked in Mancos. The United Country franchise provides real estate agents with lots of media and online exposure for their property listings, Stanley said. That’s helpful in a rural area where many buyers start looking online, he said.
Good things are happening in the housing market, and it’s recovering from the 2008 recession, Stanley said. Even though there is a shortage of houses, that can be a good sign for the market, he said. Values and demand are recovering and equalizing, he said.
“That’s good news for everyone,” Stanley said.
Stanley said he and his staff members look forward to establishing themselves and building on their success in the area.
“I don’t see a scenario where people will stop coming to Southwest Colorado,” Stanley said. “This feels like a healthy rate of growth for the area.”
