USDA needs patience, not funds

Dear Editor:

The U.S. Department of Agriculture asked for a bunch of money in the 2013 budget. They want to study “farming in 2050” against global warming.

USDA can’t even get ripe peaches to the market. USDA can make a great improvement that won’t cost a dime. Just add “sugar content” to all grades of all fruits. Seems nearly all varieties are picked green. People will buy more and farmers and stores will profit.

Farmers will take care of growing crops in 2050, simply by farming each year until then. That way USDA can find out how to farm without money at all. Patience is something we are all going to need.
