Kittens ... lots of kittens of all ages, types, and colors are available at the shelter this week. In addition to this pair of sisters a tiger tabby and a white, orange and black calico there are tiny short-haired black kittens, a long-haired fluffy white kitten, and two orange siblings orange and white, and a solid orange manx kitten with no tail. These irresistible babies and some older adolescent kittens and adult cats are available for adoption at the Cortez Animal Shelter, 2791 E. Main St. All are litter-box trained and ready to charm. The shelter is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and open every other Friday. The shelter will be closed this Friday for intensive cleaning. However, the shelter will be open this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for an adopt-a-thon, so now is the time to find a new pet to bring into your home and your life. This week, the shelter needs Iams kitten food, Iams puppy chow, laundry detergent, dish soap, paper towels, and bleach. Also, the shelter desperately needs dog treats, rawhides, pig ears, and rubber dog toys to occupy our dogs time. For more information, call the shelter at 565-4910.
