U.S. Bank has named Maya Lindgren of Cortez as one of 40 high school and college students chosen to receive a $1,000 U.S. Bank scholarship. Lindgren was selected from more than 230,000 students throughout the country who applied for the U.S. Bank Scholarship Program sponsored by the U.S. Bank Student Lending Division.

Lindgren, a graduate of Montezuma-Cortez High School, participated in a variety of activities, including volunteering with For Pets’ Sake Humane Society, singing with the Mancos Valley Choir and serving as treasurer for the Family Career Community Leaders of America.

“U.S. Bank is pleased to provide 40 scholarships to help students pay for their college education,” said Lucille Conley, senior vice present for U.S. Bank Student Lending, in a written statement from U.S. Bank. “During this challenging economy, U.S. Bank encourages students and parents to explore all available college financing options. Scholarships are one way to help pay for a college education.”

U.S. Bank also offers fixed and variable rate student loan options to help fill the gap between other forms of financial aid and the cost of education. Students and parents can find financial education for borrowers on U.S. Bank’s Student Lending website at www.usbank.com/student-loans.

The online scholarship application for the 2012-2013 academic year will be available October 2011 via U.S. Bank’s website at www.usbank.com/scholarship.
