The Cortez Animal Shelter would like to thank the Animal Assistance Foundation for a $5,000 grant to help buy more cat cages. Their mission is to provide leadership and support in improving animal welfare in the state of Colorado, and they are committed to making Colorado exemplary in animal welfare and philanthropy for animal welfare. They offer charitable support through a grant-making program to organizations that advance the foundation’s goal of establishing Colorado as a model state for the care and humane treatment of animals.

The Cortez Animal Shelter is regulated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the animals here have to have a minimum amount of room per animal. The new cages provided by this grant will meet these guidelines. The new cages also will give the animals a chance to have larger space, helping them to be less stressed and more adoptable. They will be able to house litters of kittens, so the shelter can have a larger variety of available adoptions for the public to view. With the addition of the new cages, it will allow additional space for us to hold more available cats and kittens. These new, larger cages will be a huge benefit to the cats that are in the shelter’s care until they can be adopted out. The Cortez Animal Shelter greatly appreciates this grant, and the help and support from the Animal Assistance Foundation.
