Cortez native Eli Tomac currently sits in fifth place in the 250 Lites MX Class point standings of the American Motorcyclist Association 2011 motocross season.
The 18-year-old has 201 points on the season after his race in Washgoual, Wash., on Saturday. Racing his Honda CRF250R for Geico Powersports Honda factory racing team, Tomac has five top five finishes after eight races this season.
The AMA motocross season will take about three weeks off and resume action on Saturday, Aug. 13, at Unadilla Valley Sports Center in New Berlin, N.Y. There will be three more races in the motocross season following New Berlin.
