Montezuma County is working with motorized trail groups to establish a local link to the Rimrocker Trail that connects Montrose with Moab.

County public lands coordinator James Dietrich reported that the Sage Hen area of the San Juan National Forest appears to be the best staging area for the trail spur. Possible routes being explored are from Sage Hen to the Lone Dome Road (504) or to a historic stock drive route that accesses the Dolores Canyon rim. From there the idea is to link motorized trails and roads across Dolores, San Miguel, and Montrose counties to the Rimrocker trail. The Timberline Trail Riders and Four Corners Trail Club are assisting with the trail proposal.
