Competing at the Abel Velasquez Invitational on April 8, several Mancos High School track athletes earned spots on the podium and produced lifetime best results.
Pacing the Mancos boys’ team were jumpers Griff Huver, who finished second in the long jump (20 feet, ½ inch) and Caden Galloway, who finished second in the high jump (5 feet 7 inches).
“Our jumpers had a really good meet,” said Bluejays head coach Brady Archer. “It’s great to see them, and so many of our athletes, getting good marks at this point in the season.”
Other top finishers for the Mancos boys’ team included Caden Showalter, who placed second in the discus (121 feet, 7 inches) and Jake McKie, who placed second in the 800-meter run (2:08.67).
The Lady Bluejays were paced by Emma Most, who finished second in the 3200-meter run with a time of 2:08.67.
Next up for the Bluejays track teams will be the Pine River Invite, which will take place in Bayfield on April 15.
