It would not have been possible without your generous contributions: Big O Tires, City of Cortez, Auto Zone, Rimco, Holiday Inn Express, Gary Repair, Baymont Inn & Suites, Keesee Motor Co. & Body Shop, Car Quest (Superior Auto Parts), Napa (Partners in Parts), Accurate Engine Machining, Precision Detailing, Blondie’s, Montezuma X-press Lube, Mesa Verde Post 5241VFW, Lake McPhee Post 6068 VFW, John Derrick Halls Post 5231 VFW, American Legion Post 75 & Honor Guard, Lonnie’s Glass, DJing by Gabe, Bonnie Bryant, Cortez Retail Enhancement Association, Ron & Kelli Yeomans, Jack & Janelle’s Country Kitchen, The Valencia Family, Audiobox, Don Schumacher Racing, Ute Mountain Pottery, Southwest Designs, Evil Kustoms, AAA Mini Storage, and Norma’s Floral.

A big thank you to George’s team, those individuals who parked the cars and took them on the rod run, and to the judges who made the hard decisions, to include Mayor Danny Porter and Roy Lane, chief of police.

We chose to stay with businesses in our community for purchases and we achieved our goal. All items for the car show were purchased locally, except for the mahogany models of the ‘57 Chevy and the UH1 helicopter which were purchased from another non-profit organization, Vietnam Helicopter Pilots, who assist veterans when needed. Below is a list of those items and businesses who we would also like to thank for allowing us to keep our dollars here in our community: Ryan’s Custom Engravings — 2nd Place Dust Pans & Plaques for Trophies, The Mail Room — Printing of Flyers, Pioneer Printing — Posters & Registration, Susie’s Hallmark — Lois Geer People’s Choice Trophy, Antique Corral — Best Paint Trophy & Silent Auction Items, Southwest Designs — T-shirts, Sharp’s Cabinets — Trophy Bases and Rod for the Piston, Case Insurance — Car Show Insurance, Lanmark — 3rd Place Dog Tags, Rustic Arts — Most Likely to Get a Ticket Trophy, A Sign & More — 1st Place Camp Chair Trophies, High Mesa Designs — Trophy Plaque,The Painted Turtle — Mayor’s Choice Trophy, and Le Pew Inc. — Porta Johns.

A big thank you goes out to Marvin Herrmanns and the Boy Scouts and also to Race ‘n Stuff (Mark & Debbie Snead) for joining us and making the car show even better by their presence.

We thank all the participants as well for giving us a chance and supporting our troops by entering the car show. Thank you to Megan DeMars for her beautiful presentation of the National Anthem — it brought tears to our eyes.

We would also like to thank Harold and Hope Geer for allowing us to honor George and remember Lois in our own special way.

Thanks to all of you for making this a very successful car show.
