The Montezuma-Cortez High School cross country team had its strongest showing of the season at the Mountain Chili Cha Cha in Pagosa Springs on Sept. 24.
The Lady Panthers placed second as a team with 54 points behind champion host Pagosa Springs.
The Panthers were third with 67 points behind Del Norte, 47, and Pagosa Springs, 13.
Dillon Wells led the boys with a second-place time of 19:49. Jonathan Bloedel was 17th (22:05), Stephen Garner, 22nd, 22:38; Chandler Dee, 29th, 23:15; and, Mack Carter, 32nd, 24:06.
Freshman Rachel Demby had the best time for the girls, finishing fifth at 24:53. Kia Baikie took seventh at 25:12. Other Lady Panthers finishes were Elana Cope, 19th, 29:44; Meggie Cutris, 23rd, 31:24; and, Selena LaPaz, 25th, 33:59.
M-CHS will be at Mancos for the Chicken Creek Challenge today at 9 a.m.
