FRIDAY, SEPT. 30

Ÿ Everett C. Begay, 29, of Shiprock, N.M., pleaded guilty to one count of criminal mischief — under $500, and received a deferred sentence of 12 months unsupervised probation. He was ordered to pay $209.50 in fines and costs, and must undergo an anger management evaluation and an alcohol evaluation, and follow all recommendations of both, and provide proof to the court. He must violate no laws, traffic or criminal, and keep his address current with the court.

Ÿ Sebastian A. Francis, 18, of Cortez, pleaded guilty to one count of reckless driving. He was sentenced to 36 months of supervised state probation, to report on this date. He was ordered to pay $1,942.50 in fines and costs, and to perform 24 hours of community service. He must undergo alcohol and substance abuse evaluation and follow all recommendations of same. All standard conditions of probation apply, including no alcohol or illegal drug use. Defendant is ordered to follow all conditions of probation.

TUESDAY, OCT. 4

Ÿ Toby W. Cuthair, 35, of Towaoc, pleaded guilty to one count of driving under the influence. This is the defendant’s first alcohol-related driving offense. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail, with suspended imposition, and one year of supervised private probation, to report on this date. He was ordered to pay $568.80 in fines and costs, and must perform 24 hours of community service by Oct. 4, 2012. He must attend victim impact panel, 24 hours of Level II education, and 42 hours of outpatient therapy, Track A. He must submit to random tests for drugs and alcohol, and engage in treatment within 15 days of sentencing or jail release. All standard conditions of probation apply, including no alcohol or illegal drug use. He must obtain an alcohol and substance abuse evaluation and follow all recommendations of same. He must also follow all recommendations of private probation.

Ÿ Shaun D. Phillips, 18, of Aneth, Utah, pleaded guilty to one count of underage possession/consumption of alcohol. This case is concurrent with Montezuma County cases No. 09M 291, and No. 11M 377. He was sentenced to one year in jail, with suspended imposition, and 18 months of supervised state probation. He was ordered to pay $84 in fines and costs, and to perform 24 hours of community service by Oct. 4, 2012. He must obtain and follow all recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation, and must submit to random tests for drugs and alcohol use. Defendant must enroll in and actively participate in an educational program (not a provision of sentence as this may be difficult due to the place of residence).

Ÿ Shaun D. Phillips, 18, of Aneth, Utah, pleaded guilty to one count of underage possession/consumption of alcohol. This case is concurrent with Montezuma County cases No. 10M 239, and No. 11M 377. He was sentenced to one year in jail, with suspended imposition, and 18 months of supervised state probation. He was ordered to pay $1,060.30 in fines and costs. He must obtain and follow all recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation, and must submit to random tests for drugs and alcohol use. Defendant must enroll in and actively participate in an educational program (not a provision of sentence as this may be difficult due to the place of residence).

Defendant must enroll in and actively participate in an educational program (not a provision of sentence as this may be difficult due to the place of residence).

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 5

Ÿ Karlena D. Begay, 18, of Cortez, pleaded guilty to one count of underage possession/consumption of alcohol. She received a deferred sentence of 12 months unsupervised probation, and ordered to pay $51 in fines and costs. She was ordered to perform 24 hours of community service by Oct. 5, 2012, and must obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow all recommendations of same. She may use tribal resources for evaluation. Defendant was ordered to violate no laws, traffic or criminal, and keep her address current with the court.

Ÿ Hannah N. Vandevoorde, 18, of Cortez, pleaded guilty to one count of underage possession/consumption of alcohol. She received a deferred sentence of 12 months unsupervised probation, and ordered to pay $51 in fines and costs; she also received a $250 misdemeanor fine, which was suspended. Defendant was ordered to write and submit a 10-page report on the effect of alcohol use on minors under the age of 21 years old: “Why you drink and what would change your mind” with three suggestions on how to curtail drinking problems with minors. Report will be published and she then must present this report to a group. The report must be well-researched. She must also obtain an alcohol evaluation and follow all recommendations of same. The $250 suspended fine is to be suspended upon completion of the report, which must be turned in to the court by Dec. 1, 2011.

Ÿ Terry Alan Rose, 58, of Dolores, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of marijuana, under 2 ounces, and was ordered to pay $426 in fines and costs.

Ÿ Raul Maldonado, 50, of Albuquerque, N.M., pleaded guilty to one count of failure to exhibit proof of ownership of livestock. He was ordered to pay $334.50 in fines and costs.
